Every project at HDW starts by bringing together the needs and wants of the target buyer with the design and layout of the specific model home.
When Kristen Slagle, one of Haven’s Senior Interior Designers, first began working on The Cal Atlantic Home’s Traditions, the new home community in Cumming, Georgia, she decided to make this home design different from anything she’d done before – describing it as “Funky, Moody and Modern.” With several models planned for this community, this model needed to stand out and make a distinct statement.
When taking a creative jump, Kristen always stays focused on a few key elements in order to bring consistency to the overall home design.
In this case, her focus happened to be on an intriguing fabric and a fabulous wallpaper color scheme, and both were used as the grounding elements to bring the entire design into focus. The fabric and wallpaper inspired the overall style and color palette for the home, and were integrated to resonate with the well-established buyer looking for amenities and a convenient location for their family.
This house features a stunning two-story space that was highlighted with specialty lights at varying heights for a truly dramatic first impression. Kristen used other interesting textures and elements throughout the house including a brick wall, wood planked ceiling, and unexpected teal wood grain wallpaper in the study off the foyer to capture the buyer’s visual interest. The experience of walking into this model in the Traditions community is wholly unique, and shows what can happen when HDW’s team is given creative freedom.
Kristen hopes that this project will inspire homeowners to step out of the box in their own homes: to feel comfortable to create spaces that are calming while they offer exciting visual elements at the same time.
